MORE than 40 men and women 'took the plunge' as part of the grand finale of Kington's fortnight-long festival after they volunteered for a charity bungee jump.

Many 'bungeed' to raise funds for St Michael's Hospice and some even enjoyed it so much they went back for seconds and jumped again.

A whole variety of characters were out in force for the carnival including 'Woody and Jess' from 'Toy Story' and a host of 'stars' from children's television programmes.

The gala day, which incorporated entertainment in the recreation ground, included line dancing and the Majorettes marching band.

St Mary's Parish Church played an important part in the festival by hosting two major events including a concert that was arranged by the church's choirmaster, Bill Preece.

Budding poets gathered for 'An Evening of Poetry and Music' which was presented by John Morgans and accompanied by Joy Slater on the piano.

The festival's teddy bears picnic also received an excellent turn out from people and bears alike with a bouncy castle and 120 balloons were released as part of the balloon race.
