HEREFORDSHIRE recor-ded a 32-run win over Shropshire at Eastnor in a Group 4 match in the ECB 50 Plus County Champion-ship.

Opening batsmen Brian Goode (30) and Maurice Embrey (26) laid the foundations of Herefordshire's 165 with a stand of 51.

Dennis Malley (33), Jim Sandford (22) and all-rounder Ian Macklin (18) also made important contributions for the home county, who lost their last four wickets for four runs.

J Phillips, who snapped up 4-25, led Shropshire's response with an unbeaten 53, but he received little support from his colleagues in an innings which suffered three run- outs.

After Roy Wargen delivered a tidy nine-over spell for 16 runs, spinners Macklin (3-13) and Sandford (3-28) got down to work to rush out the visitors for 133 in the 41st over.
