JUBILEE -- Dorstone enjoyed an excellent afternoon of entertainment around the green which included a bouncy castle, skittle alley and treasure hunts for adults and children. In the village hall, there was a photographic display, spanning the last 50 years, compiled by Sally Dolby and Louise Hopes, together with record books of the Womens Institute and Bowls Club. Tea, made by committee members, was laid out in the village hall. Children of the parish were presented with a commemorative certificate before a musical Jubilate in the village church, organised by Patricia Smyly, featured music from the last 50 years sung by members of the Link Singers and Golden Valley Young Farmers, supported by children modelling clothes of the decades. To complete the celebrations, Trevor and Rana James lit a beacon on Merbach Hill from where other beacons and firework displays could be seen and marvellous views enjoyed.
