VILLAGE FESTIVAL -- From June 26-30, visitors to Almeley can join in the village festival with music. During the festival there are a number of concerts and musical events being held, and at the same time, particularly over the weekend, there will be many other things to see and do. There will be cake, plant and white elephant stalls, and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, there will be open gardens. There will be a musical quiz in the Bells on Friday evening, a brass band concert on Saturday afternoon, clog dancers, an art exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, bell ringing - and much much more - including all day refreshments. During the festival, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, individual performers will perform in the beautifully decorated church. There will be an opportunity to view the village development exhibition and crafts during that time. A children's musical workshop will be held on Saturday, in the marquee on the common. The musical events programme started on Wednesday with a Ceilidh at Newhouse Farm at 7.30 and continues with two sections of the Hereford Symphonic Wind Band giving a concert in the church on Thursday at 7.30pm. On Friday afternoon there will be a tea dance in the village hall at 3pm followed by a concert in the church in the evening at 7.30pm performed by Kington Operatic Society. On Saturday singers and listeners alike can enjoy a Scratch Messiah and Vivaldi's Gloria in the church at 7.30pm (for the singers, the rehearsal starts at 4.30pm). The final concert will be held in the church on Sunday evening at 5pm and will be performed by the Bilston United Gospel Choir. Information on all events and tickets can be obtained before the festival starts from the booking office on 01544 327349 between 11am-3pm.
