FOR 40 years Oswald Powell served St Devereux Church as a warden; it's where his funeral service will be next Monday (July 1).
Among the mourners will be many of the friends this well-known farmer and former county councillor made in his time - a 'great many' says his daughter Kate Sayce.
And each will hold a particular memory precious. Dad, says Kate, was that sort of person.
Mr Powell, husband to Herefordshire councillor and local government stalwart Cynthia Powell, died on Sunday (July 23) aged 86 at Willox Bridge, Allensmore, where he was born and farmed.
Life on the land vied with county politics - he served as a councillor between 1952-61 - and a range of interests, including poetry.
