THE most dominant team in the history of the Jewson Herefordshire Sunday Football League have withdrawn because nobody was prepared to run them.

Greyhound Dog captured a host of trophies in their 15-year existence in the league and also represented the section with some distinction in the national FA Sunday Cup.

The reigning Premier Division champions are among 10 teams who have chosen not to re-apply for the coming season.

However, Ludlow, Kilpeck Lions, Holmer Athletic and Treacle Miners Reserves are joining the league, which will comprise of three divisions to ensure each club plays a significant number of matches.

League chairman Steve Willmot said: "All the clubs in the Premier Division have a real chance of picking up a trophy at the end of the season. All clubs should now take heart from the demise of the Greyhound team and feel that there is nothing to fear in the Premier Division in the future."
