THE Hay-on-Wye mother of a man brutally killed in South East London 15 years ago has successfully campaigned for the case to be re-opened.

Daniel Morgan, aged 37, was found dead in car park of the Golden Lion Pub in Sydenham on March 10 1987. He had been struck in the head with an axe.

Despite an extensive inquiry by the Metropolitan Police, those responsible have never been brought to justice.

Daniel's mother Isobel Hulsmann, of Hay-on-Wye, and his surviving brother Alistair campaigned extensively for a new investigation into the killing.

Now the Metropolitan Police has confirmed it is to launch a fresh inquiry.

DCS David Cook, from the Serious Crime Group West, appeared on last night's BBC Crimewatch UK programme to announce the new inquiry and appeal for new witnesses to come forward.

He also announced a £50,000 reward, for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible.
