HEREFORDSHIRE will be aiming to record their second successive Minor Counties Championship Western Division victory when they face last year's section winners Cheshire at Luctonians, starting this Sunday.

The county will be hoping to build on the impressive 139-run victory over Wales in their opening three-day match at Colwall.

The returning Paul Lazenbury was a major influence in Herefordshire's success against the Welshmen, flaying the visiting attack for a boundary-laden 143 - the third equal highest score from a Herefordshire player in Minor Counties history.

Not surprisingly, Bath-born Lazenbury has again been selected, but Herefordshire's leading bowler Kevin Cooper is missing with a groin injury, which kept him out of the ECB 38-Counties Cup defeat against the Worcestershire Cricket Board on Sunday.

Cooper's absence will be a major blow for Herefordshire because the former Nottinghamshire seamer grabbed 10 wickets in each of his three championship matches last term.

Herefordshire: Chris Boroughs captain, Harshad Patel, Paul Lazenbury, Ravi Nagra, Ismail Dawood, Rob Hughes, Aamir Farooque, Karl Pearson, Nick Davies, Paul Thomas, Simon Roberts.
