Hereford pole vaulter Irie Hill, who has already been selected for England's Commonwealth Games team, is pursuing qualification for the European Championships in Munich.
After training in Hereford and Cardiff, she took first place at the Domspitzmilch Springen event in Regensburg, Germany on Saturday with 4 metres, beating Czech junior record holder Michaela Bulova and Welsh record holder Rhian Clarke into second and third places.
Hill won with first-time clearances at each height before narrow failures at the European Championships qualifying height of 4.25 metres. After coming down on the bar three times, Hill said: "It was good to know that I am capable of jumping that high.
"I want to be able to compete in Munich in the Europeans and I am sure that qualification will come in time for trials in July."
