MADAM, I sometimes wonder what will become of the double-glazing companies when they have succeeded in replacing our windows with uPVC ones.
Will they try to tempt us with a new range of low-maintenance delights such as uPVC brick-effect cladding for the house or even plastic hedges and lawns for the perfect garden?
Or, on the other hand, will they reflect upon the profound effect they have already had on our towns, villages, farmhouses and anyone realises that Victorian and Edwardian wooden windows were, perhaps, not so bad after all?
DARREN RAY,
Abbey Dore.
