LEADING Hereford employer, Denco, has entered a consultation period which could result in 20 redundancies.
Following a downturn in the international market and a poor final quarter last year, the company was forced to offer 20 voluntary redundancy packages - 10 on the factory floor and 10 to management staff.
Although some employees accepted the offer, the company has fallen short of its target.
Consequently, Denco has entered a four week consultation period with the affected employees to address the situation.
Denco Managing Director Mark Shutler regretted the situation, but claimed the future was still bright.
"We are still optimistic for 2003, and have big contracts both in the UK and overseas, so there is no reason to be depressed with the overall situation."
