A LONG established firm of Hereford solicitors has merged its business with that of one across the border in Shropshire.

Between them they plan to extend and expand their services not only to cover their existing areas but to take in the whole of the Marches.

Beaumont Smith and Davies, based in Offa Street, Hereford confirmed the link up with Mortimers, Solicitors has already taken place.

Mortimers have existing offices in Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Tenbury.

Following the merger Gary Davies and Morley Smith, partners in Beaumont Smith and Davies are remaining with the practice in Hereford as consultants, being available to both existing and future clients.

The partners of Mortimers, Dawn Price, Karen Brake and Christopher Waters will also be in attendance at the Offa Street offices.

The newly merged practice will be in a position to undertake a wide variety of work, including Family Law, Litigation and Employment as well as probate, wills and commercial and property work.

Commenting on the need for a merger Mr Davies and Mr Smith said, "The amalgamation of practices of a like nature and with similar ideals, but with increasing specialisation and having a greater variety of legal work on offer, is essential these days to maintain and enhance market lead. The area is now extended to include the Marches generally.

"The name 'Mortimer' is one of the oldest and most respected in that area, let alone others. We are delighted to be joined with them and are confident it will benefit all clients, old and new.''
