MADAM, K S Cameron writes to tell us that it is the children of those who enjoy watching television or drinking Chardonnay who pedal drugs, abduct children and mug pensioners.

And the off-spring of those who can foal down a mare, tend an ailing ewe or nurse a cow presumably are not.

I can only imagine K S Cameron has spent too many dark nights tending to sick animals and not enough time mixing with ordinary people to realise the real world is actually quite pleasant.

I suggest a trip or two away from Hay on Wye, perhaps to Hereford, where K S Cameron will find that the rest of the world is not quite the nightmare that a feverish imagination with little human contact has clearly produced
