Ledbury line dancer Emily Williams has returned to the UK in triumph after finishing second in the World Line Dance Championships in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 13-year-old John Masefield High School pupil made it to the finals after winning a heat in Ireland in October.

In Nashville, she was one of scores of dancers asked to perform five separate dances in front of the judges.

A delighted Emily said: "I was so shocked to come second and I would like to thank my coach for his hard work in training me."

She is trained by Ross-based coach Dave Chamberlain.

"We're really proud of her," said mum Jenny, of Queens Way, who is now appealing for sponsors to send Emily back to the USA next year, when she will try to go one better and win the contest outright.

Mrs Williams said: "It cost £4,000 to get Emily to the USA this year."

Emily's next target is the European Championships in Breen, Somerset, in three weeks' time.
