MEETING - Skenfrith church's Easter Vestry Meeting was held in the parish hall under the chairmanship of the Archdeacon, the Rev. Glyndwr Hackett. Before the meeting there was a presentation to Anne Price who was retiring from the office of vicar's warden due to ill health. Anne knew nothing of the presentation until she arrived at the hall and found church members and friends gathered to welcome her. The hall looked lovely, with tea tables set around the room, a buffet table laden with good food and bottles of wine and orange juice. Across the room was the table with the church's gift to Anne for her dedication and hard work over many years to the church and the parish. The Archdeacon made a short speech thanking Anne and then gave her the beautiful cut glass platter inscribed with the words 'Anne Price for devoted service to St Bridget's Church, Skenfrith'. Then it was time for refreshments before the vestry meeting began. The annual vestry meeting is open to the public - the only church meeting that is an open meeting. The Archdeacon was in the chair because there is no vicar at the moment and it looks as though it might be some time before one can be found for the parish. The vicar's warden is to be Graham Edmunds. The people's warden is Delia Nash and she is also treasurer. Secretary is Chris Field and Jo Field is deanery representative. It is not yet known, the meeting was told in answer to a question, how much it will cost to renovate the church bells. With the business of the meeting completed, the Archdeacon closed with a prayer.
