PARISH COUNCIL -- The April meeting of Ewyas Harold group parish council was held in the Memorial Hall. In the absence of both the chairman and vice chairman, Councillor Graham Sprackling was elected to chair the meeting. Three members of the public and Herefordshire Councillor J B Williams were also present. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and signed.

DESIGN STATEMENT/VILLAGE PLAN -- Cllr Elizabeth Overstall said that she would soon meet the printer to approve the final draft.

RECREATION GROUND GATE -- this has now been mended.

JARROLD FOOTPATH SIGN -- The clerk reported that this was still at the Sign Shop being prepared.

MOBILE YOUTH CLUB -- Cllr Lloyd Rickards reported meeting the South Wye Youth Worker, Andrea Robb. This resource was a converted but, only available for one night a week, in five areas of South Herefordshire. It might be available to us on a Monday evening. It is directed at 13-19 year olds. Further funding or a permanent club and youth worker might follow if successful.

PLANNING -- Notice of permission received for Ruthlands; Rowleston; agricultural buildings. Shop at Old Stables; Ewyas Harold (gas bottle storage still awaiting verification). Also West Mercia Housing Group: Affordable Houses on land near Elmdale, Ewyas Harold. Primrose Cottage, Rowlestone, permission for extension. Permission for alterations at Dog Inn, Ewyas Harold. Refusal of permission for proposed alterations for parking access at 1, Temple Terrace, Ewyas Harold. The council had no objection to an application for a new field access off Pudding Street, Rowlestone.

LENGTHSMAN SCHEME -- A summery of work done during the year was circulated. Notice that the scheme would be continue throughout the county, had been received.

ROAD MAINTENANCE -- Cllr Jean Addis reported dead branches on an oak tree, which might be a hazard by the roadside opposite Elmdale. Kentchurch Estate, owners of the land would be notified. Cllr Overstall had noticed two trees leaning at an angle over the lane above Little Cwm, Dulas. The Highway Authority would be asked to deal with this matter.

FINANCIAL REPORT -- a statement was explained by the clerk. It was adopted and all payments approved.

RECREATION GROUND -- It was reported that some children had been seen on the roof of the pavilion. It was noted that bark levels needed to be replenished in the children's play area. This would be dealt with after the latest ROSPA Report had been received and studied.

ADVERTISING SIGNS -- A letter had been received from the new owner of the village shop, asking if some thought could be given to the erection of a sign (possibly near Bridge Farm) indicating the location of the facilities available in the village centre. The clerk would write saying that this matter was already under consideration by the council. The next parish council meeting will be moved to the second Tuesday in the month because of the Bank Holiday. It will comprise the annual parish meeting, The AGM, and also the ordinary meeting. To take place at the Memorial Hall, on Tuesday, May 13, at 7.30pm.
