CHEERS! Stuart Gargan, licensee at the Bell, Yarpole has good reason to celebrate as he pours himself a pint of the 'best drink in the region' - and that's official!

Leading pub company, Enterprise Inns presented Mr Gargan with the award after judges decided that the Bell had the best drink in Wales and the West.

Mr Gargan said: "We are delighted at receiving this award as I believe it gives tenants something to judge their own standards by.

"To achieve the perfect traditional, or working ale you have to get the cellar perfect to enable the drink to be at its best.

"We are very pleased to know that we have done just that. It's a great honour to be chosen from all the licensees around here.

"Our best selling traditional ales are Hook Norton, Timothy Taylor and Old Speckled Hen. We have a fantastic lager and cider range, as well as a wine list featuring 20 wines - with our Chilean Merlot being our best seller. All the hard work that we put in to encourage business has paid off."

Other winners in the region included the Bird in Hand in Chester that gained first place for its pub food and the Red Lion in Meliden that won the title of 'best pub business'.
