WELLINGTON Rangers need just one more point to be mathematically assured of the Hereford Times Here-fordshire League Pre-mier Division title for the second successive season.

Wellington's exciting 4-3 away win over Ross United Services has virtually handed them the crown because the villagers have a three-point advantage and a vastly superior goal difference over second-placed Woofferton, who have one match remaining.

The reigning league champions, however, needed to fight back against Ross after conceding a spectacular 35-yard strike from the experienced Bobby Hatch after six minutes.

Wellington hit back strongly, and skipper Luke Johnston rattled the crossbar with a header before the visitors deservedly equalised on the half-hour when Weston Holder's dangerous cross struck a Ross defender and bounced into the net.

Eddie Wells put the visitors in front from the penalty spot early in the second period after Rob Parsons was brought down by Ross' Andy French, and then captain Johnston gave Wellington a two-goal cushion with a neat flick from a corner.

To their credit, Ross responded positively and cut the deficit to a single goal through Hatch's second strike of the match.

Craig Sewell rattled both the bar and the post for Wellington before the visitors finally regained their two-goal advantage when the lively Parsons broke clear to score the fourth.

Ross refused to give in and Neil Meek, returning after a long lay-off through injury, set up a tense few moments with a late third goal for the Woofferton home side.

Despite playing with 10 men for most of the match, Woofferton recorded an impressive 2-1 away win over third-placed Ewyas Harold and now appear destined to finish in second spot.

Woofferton took the lead through Harry Harring-ton's close-range header and they looked comfortable until Ryan Hirons hauled the home side level with a cool finish after racing on to a through ball. And within seconds Woofferton were dealt a double blow when full-back James Powell was sent off for dissent.

After the interval, Woofferton held their own against a strangely subdued Harold side and hit a scorching winning goal with 12 minutes remaining.

Midfielder Jamie Marsh picked up a loose ball 30 yards from goal and hammered an unstoppable effort into the top corner of the Harold net.
