Wolverhampton United 0 Westfields 3

WESTFIELDS took another big step towards gaining the West Midlands League Premier Division title with an emphatic victory at Willenhall, their 28th league win of the season.

This was their third away victory in eight days, following successes at Ettingshall and Smethwick.

And with seven matches to play, they hold a nine-point advantage over Herefordshire rivals Kington.

Leading marksman Paul Burton opened the scoring after James Watkins had beaten the off-side trap to set up a close-range tap-in for his colleague.

Burton then turned provider when he played a neat one-two with Derek Craddock.

The United goalkeeper saved Craddock's first attempt but he headed home the rebound to give Westfields a two-goal interval lead.

Westfields exploited the open spaces of the full-size pitch effectively and they were always in control, using the opportunity to introduce substitutes Chris Jefferson, Matt Beale and Sam Bowen, back with the club after his travels.

Mark Hibbard broke clear to extend the visitors' lead with a delightful curling shot, and Bowen almost added a fourth after Jefferson and Beale had carved out an opening.
