HEREFORDSHIRE seam bowler Mark Horrocks claimed the prized scalp of former England batsman Graeme Hick in an abandoned match with Worcestershire County Cricket Club at Colwall on Sunday.
The former Kington bowler dismissed Hick for 20 but the New Road club still managed to post a formidable 282-5 off 45 overs in a benefit match for all-rounder David Leatherdale.
Leatherdale, himself, made 16 but new captain Ben Smith led the way with 78 before retiring, while opener Anurag Singh (71) and Vikram Solanki (32) also weighed in for the First Class club.
A depleted Herefordshire struggled in reply, and were tottering on 127-6 from 37 overs when bad light stopped play.
Richard Hall made a creditable unbeaten 44, while Worcestershire duo Kadeer Ali (25) and James Pipe (18) contributed against their own club.
