Ledbury's community support officer Alison Dore has defended her actions in asking parents not to park on double yellow lines on the approaches to Ledbury Primary School.

One parent, Tony Brad-ford, of the Deer Park, has complained to West Mercia Police that the campaign was unwelcome and unhelpful for people dropping their children off at the school.

But Ms Dore said she was trying to help resolve a road safety issue, and that the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) had asked the school to look at the problem.

She said that potential hazards included doors being left open on the driver's side of vehicles and children running out from behind parked cars.

Ms Dore said she had been there to advise and not to hand out tickets.
