CANON Frome away to Crickhowell usually means at hot afternoon and this was the case as Frome batted first.

CRICKHOWELL I v CANON FROME I

After Rob Mence's early departure, Ned Mawby and Andy Rogers took the score past three figures, Rogers making 47 including eight fours and Mawby reaching his half century before being dismissed for 51.

Frome then stuttered slightly to reach 140-6 with 15 overs left, thus bringing together two of the 'glamour' boys of the side, Harry Orgee and Andrew Duddell, who saw the away side to maximum batting points as they eventually finished on 217-9. Orgee made 30 and Duddell hit 36.

Frome struck early in the Crickhowell innings with the veteran of the bowling attack, Neil Andrews, striking in the second over. Although the home side scored reasonably quickly with boundaries they also lost wickets with regularity and were bowled out in only 25 overs for 122, Frome winning by 95 runs.

Andrews ended with 4-23, whilst there were two wickets each for Andy Rogers, 16-year-old Nick Panniers and 15-year-old Dan Watkins.
