BOSBURY gained a convincing 10 wicket victory away to Almeley on Saturday.
ALMELEY v BOSBURY
A depleted home team won the toss and decided to bat on a sultry afternoon.
The Bosbury opening bowlers Steve Davies and Jon Owen soon had Almeley tied down and in trouble. Owen struck with the wickets of D Duggan, R Williams, and D Hughes to leave Almeley reeling at 9-3.
They staged a brief recovery, R Duggan led the way with 16 as J Clayton held up the other end. The introduction of Darren Cooke to the Bosbury attack soon had Almeley back on the ropes, as a fine display of bowling resulted in Cooke bowling out four of the Almeley batsmen.
C Baker provided a little resistance for Almeley, scoring 16 including a six, but he misjudged a run to Cooke, and Cooke's return to Matt Graff behind the stumps had him run out. Steve Davies claimed the final two wickets of the Almeley innings.
Bosbury, chasing just 52 for victory, set about finishing the game before tea, and they did so comfortably. Openers Gary Fletcher and Merv Carless ended with 21 runs apiece, as Bosbury won by 10 wickets in just nine overs for the full 24 points.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Bosbury are at home to Bishop's Frome.
