AS the detailed analysis of August's GCSE and A-level results gets underway, two extraordinary successes by Aylestone High School pupils are being highlighted.

Emma Fenn, aged 16, took her first pure maths A-level module a year early and scored 100%.

The school's head of maths Chris Lewandowski said: "Success of this order is extremely rare and is largely due to the commitment of this dedicated pupil."

Emma also gained nine A* grades and one grade A at GCSE this year.

Another high achiever was Joanna Greensmith who was awarded one of the top five marks in the country for food technology out of 71,000 students who sat the exam under the AQA board.
