HEREFORDSHIRE CBA had a busy week with matches against City and County of Bristol at Ardagh, Bristol, and Wiltshire Tourists at Castle Green, Hereford.

In the match at Bristol, Herefordshire were well beaten by 148 shots to 95, and won on one rink only.

That rink was skipped by Derek Waters and won 24-21 in a very tight game, but only two other rinks kept their opponents to single-figure victories.

Gerald Jones' rink were level at 16-16 after 17 ends, but their opponents finished strongly for a 23-17 victory and the rink skipped by Jack Gray were always behind and lost 22-13.

President Dave Hollo-way's rink were down 16-5 at the halfway stage and finally lost 29-16, and the rink skipped by Colin Reading were defeated 28-15. Frank Harwood's rink had a bad spell in mid-match when they lost 17 shots in eight ends and finally went down 25-10.

The home team won on four rinks when Herefordshire entertained Wiltshire Tourists and gained a victory by 132 shots to 105.

Their highest winning rink was skipped by Ray Walker and gave a superb exhibition in their 36-9 success, losing only five ends in the process, while president Dave Hollo-way's rink secured a 27-18 win after leading 24-6 at 15 ends.

Jack Gray's rink led 21-9 after 18 ends, but conceded nine shots in the last three ends before winning 21-18, and the other home success was by Gerald Jones' rink who won a tight game 18-16.

Glyn Williams' rink played well and led 18-15 after 20 ends, but they lost a five on the last end to go down 20-18, and the other losing rink was skipped by Richard Brown, who went down 24-12.

Herefordshire play the final game of the season on Saturday against Berkshire County BA at Ross-on-Wye, starting 2pm.
