HEREFORDSHIRE won two of their seven matches to finish fifth in Group 4 of the ECB 50 Plus County Championship.
Herefordshire beat Oxfordshire and Shrop-shire but lost five matches and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, which was eventually won by Kent.
Jim Sandford was Herefordshire's leading run-maker, scoring 235 runs from five completed innings at an average 47.33, while Dave Price averaged 47, collecting 142 runs from three completed innings. Dennis Malley who scored 219 runs at 31.2, Ian Macklin, 137 runs at 27.4, and Maurice Embrey, 157 runs at 22.4, were the other leading figures for Herefordshire with the bat.
All-rounder Sandford was also prominent with the ball, bagging a total of six wickets, a tally also matched by Norman Whittall and Eddie Hill. Macklin also weighed in, claiming five wickets and Mike Evans and Brian Goode each took four.
