MADAM, I am pleased your vigorous campaign to tidy up our city continues, but it is being ignored by business operators and the councils.
Monkmoor Street has obscene graffiti written on the side-walls of The Palace restaurant, and also the Nell Gwynne pub remains.
At the burial ground between Canal Road and Commercial Road, the amount of graffiti on the walls, paintwork, and tombs has intensified enormously.
This should be a pleasant oasis of space and green, which is now virtually ruined.
No attempt to remove graffiti has been made since you published my letter on June 12, 2003.
A drinking ban imposed in 2002 is also ignored, and now the signs indicating this have been blacked over.
A COOMBES,
Coningsby Court, Hereford.
