HEREFORDSHIRE Council says it cannot be held responsible for 'random acts of vandalism' in Leominster.

There was an outcry from Leominster Leisure Centre users and staff after 13 vehicles at the adjacent Coningsby Road car park were damaged.

Responding to calls for better security council property services manager Colin Birks said: "In the last 12 months the council has spent about £70,000 on the car park to improve lighting, general security and provide bus bay areas

"However, because the car park forms part of the access road serving other facilities, including the Minster College, it is virtually impossible to provide security controls to the entrance. The council cannot be held responsible for random acts of vandalism," he added.
