THE game started at a furious pace as the villagers rained shot after shot onto the Malvern goal.

BELL INN 98 11, GREAT MALVERN HOTEL 0

It wasn't long before Nicky Welch opened the scoring after a run and cross by Paul Wilband.

Welch doubled his tally with a 30 yard volley after just 10 minutes and the large crowd knew they were in for a goal feast. Tim Febrey scored a brace as the away team struggled to get out of their own half. Chris Grub made it five with a blistering shot from the edge of the box and Welch grabbed his hat-trick on 40 minutes after a strong run by man of the match Tony Evans.

An own goal on the stroke of half time meant it was 7-0 at the break and the home defence of Ledbury, Brown, Gabb, Argent and Roberts had hardly had a touch.

Chris Grubb got his second within five minutes of the restart, although missing several golden opportunities in the first half earnt him the dubious honour of being voted duffer of the match.

Changes were made by new assistant manager Dave Gladwin who bought on his brother Paul up front assisted by Paul Rowe. This was rewarded as Gladwin scored with a superb header that was to earn him the champagne moment of the day.

Ash Jones clamly slotted in to take the score into double figures and Gladwin grabbed his second to complete the scoring.

On Sunday the Bell are at home to Dynamo Ledbury, hoping to avenge their 4-1 defeat last season.
