Ledbury Town cruised into the second round of the HFA Charity Bowl with a 6-2 demolition of Westfields at New Street on Tuesday evening.

LEDBURY TOWN 6, WESTFIELDS 2

Ledbury were determined to make up for their poor performance at Bustleholme on Saturday but were indebted to keeper Jamie Hales in the opening minutes when he made a superb save from Westfields' Jon Pugh.

Minutes later Ledbury took the lead when Phil Preedy ran through the visitors' defence only to be brought down in the penalty area and up stepped Robbie Colwell to convert the spot kick.

Westfields came back strongly and again Hales was called upon to make a fine save before the visitors conceded a free kick just outside their area.

With the keeper distracted and still arguing with the official, Stuart Hall fired home into the corner of the net for 2-0.

Ledbury then took charge of the game and Mick Stockley fired home in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0. Minutes later Robbie Colwell made it four when he headed home a fine cross from Duncan Preedy.

In the 30th minute Westfields pulled a goal back when Sean Davis was on target with a superb effort to make it 4-1 at half time.

The second half became a midfield battle but it was the visitors who scored next when Hales failed to hold a powerful shot from Sean Davis and Preece fired home the loose ball.

Ledbury hit back strongly with the Preedy brothers involved in most of the good play and it was Phil Preedy who scored next to make it 5-2 in the 65th minute.

With time running out Ledbury substitute Martin Punt scored the goal of the game when his long range effort flew into the top corner to make it 6-2.
