Bromyard lost their first North Midlands One league game of the season to a physically bigger Castle side.
BROMYARD 0, BISHOPS CASTLE 17pts
From the outset Bromyard were going to struggle as the Castle forwards kept the ball for long periods. This style of play resulted in a converted try for Castle after 25 minutes to put them 7-0 up.
Then followed Bromyard's best spell of the game in which they came close to scoring but on the stroke of half time conceded another try to trail 12-0 at the interval.
Straight from the kick off Castle scored their third try and this proved to be the end of the scoring. Steve Eversham then saved Bromyard with a powerful tackle which resulted in the Castle player dropping the ball over the line.
This summed up Bromyard's spirit as did man of the match Giles Rivers who never failed to make yards. Winger Dan Goodson impressed on his league debut as did Ainsley Ralph at fly half.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Bromyard entertain Worcester Wanderers in the first round of the Powergen Junior Cup.
