FOOTPATHS around Stoke Lacy are to be cleared.

Parish council footpaths officer Henry Hodges is to lead a walk for villagers in an effort to open paths for access.

Residents had expressed concern to Stoke Lacy Parish Council about obstructions, including broken stiles and trees resting along paths.

Chairman Carole Surman said: "For some time we've been asking people to walk the footpaths to arrange clearing up of obstructions."

Coun Surman added that she would like to see a local walking group being set up through the event.

"Hopefully this will kick-start a rambling society or whatever - a group of people who like walking who can take it upon themselves to make them clear so people can follow them," she said.

The walk will leave from the village hall at 2pm on Sunday, October 12, before returning to the hall for tea and cakes.
