THE news the Rotherwas relief road has been postponed was no great surprise, and judging by comments by firms based at Rotherwas, some jobs in the area may be in peril, which is a demoralising start to the New Year.

The council, told some time ago the costs had been underestimated, bleats that the problem was not caused by them. What a surprise!

Our MP's great suggestion is to scrap the swimming pool for Leominster and divert the money to the Rotherwas road project, which will undoubtedly be met by unanimous support by the people of Leominster and the doctors who outlined the benefits for the health of the local population on page three of last week's Hereford Times!

Hundreds of houses are to be built on the old SAS site and a new supermarket is to be erected on the Greyhound Dog site, which will, apparently, have no effect on the flow of traffic that is already static at many times of the day. The council assures us traffic flow problems have been thoroughly researched and will be addressed.

Another scheme, announced by the Highways Agency, will produce a traffic lane along Edgar Street for lorries, buses and cyclists, which will also ease congestion! Am I alone in thinking that the lunatics have finally taken charge of the asylum?
