WHACKY WALKERS - On Saturday, December 28, the festive walk was well supported by 18 stalwart club members who turned out in the rain. This was the first time the club has walked in the rain for a year. Taking the same route as last year they did a two hour trek along local footpaths and lanes taking them over Bishopstone hill. The walk started and ended at the Lord Nelson Inn in Bridge Sollars where cooked food was waiting for them when they returned. The walks for 2004 are already allocated which means that all new walkers will just enjoy the trip and will always be made welcome. There is no club charge. It really is just a social club. Look in this column for the details about the next walks.

CAROL SINGING - On a very cold and misty December 17 evening last year 17 village members braved the elements with their lanterns and torches to sing carols and raise money for the Hereford Air Ambulance Service. The singers apologise for not being able to visit everyone but time and cold was a factor. A grand total of £163 was raised. Thank you Bishopstone.

VILLAGE LOTTERY - The winners of £25 in the village draws have been: Donald Watkins with number 46 on December 20; Pat Astley with number 27 on December 27; David and Hazel Macklin with number 10 in the January 3 draw.

PARISH COUNCIL - The next parish council meeting will be on Thursday, January 15, at the Lord Nelson Inn starting at 7.30pm. All visitors welcome.
