FANS of the Be Good Tanyas will know already that instrumentalist Trish Klein's life appears to have taken an upward spiral since starting her new band, Po' Girl.

Somewhat in the shadow with the Be Goods, Klein's talents find the limelight in the new alt.folk trio, whose tour reaches Hereford's Courtyard next Friday (February 6).

A musician and songwriter with a distinctive natural sound, Klein plays banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica, fiddle and mandolin. No wonder her lesser skilled colleagues in BGT kept her in the background.

Set free to write, and sing, her own music, it's hard to believe there could be any going back for the young Canadian star.

Singing with Montreal-born Allison Russell and violinst Diona Davies on the current tour to promote the new album, reviews seem to have confirmed that Po' Girl is a side-project with a larger-than-life personality.

Po' Girl, the debut album, was released on Diesel Motor Records this week. Buy it before you book for Friday's gig on 01432 359252.
