Ross-on-Wye Choral Society will perform Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle on Saturday evening in the town's St Mary's Parish Church.
Much of the music in the Mass is reminiscent of Rossini's operatic style, reflected in the choice of soloist.
The American soprano Elizabeth Claxton, Icelandic tenor Jonas Gudmundsson, and Julia Riley (mezzo soprano) and Nicholas Warden (bass), who are both English, are all studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
The setting of the parish church should provide the ideal atmosphere in which to appreciate the intimate feel of this work, which was Rossini's last major composition.
Ian Fox will conduct, with accompaniment by Anita Corbett and Robert Lucas on the harmonium.
Tickets are available from The County Collection in Ross and The Outback in Hereford. Alternatively call 01531 660375.
