Hereford continued their good form after the mid-season break with a 2-1 success against visiting Lansdown in the Gerrard West of England and South Wales League North Division 1.

Third-placed Lansdown, however, punished Hereford's slow start by taking an early lead when they broke out of defence and Hereford defender Giles Stokes could only parry a shot into the goal after goalkeeper Jim Wallis had pushed the attacker wide.

Lansdown retained their lead until the interval but Hereford gradually introduced more purpose into their play and levelled when good work by Andy Rogers set up Jon Mundy to score at the back post.

Hereford continued to attack and Ian Gwilliam set up a number of chances before man-of-the-match Richard Wood clinched the points with a minute to go.

Leominster, who conceded seven goals to Cirencester the previous week, found the goal trail themselves by hammering North Division 2 bottom club Bristol 2nd 7-0.

They were in control from the start and netted three times in the first period through Josh Watkins, skipper Dave Harvey and John Davies, all following short corners.

Leominster continued to dominate play throughout the second half, adding four more goals from John Briggs, John Morgan, who scored from a cross by Nick Cole, Watkins and Harvey.

Leominster 2nd saw off visiting Newent 2nd 10-1 in North-East West District 1.

Newent were unable to match Leominster's power and trailed by eight goals before pulling one back from a short corner.

The home side's goals - five in each half - came from Simon Maxwell (3), Ian Johnson (2), Adie Preece (2), Toby Johnson (2) and Pete Morgan.

In North-East West District 3, Ross-on-Wye, who lost two players on the morning of the match due to flu, had an unhappy trip to Lansdown 4th where they went down 4-0.

Ross defended strongly in the first period and trailed by just a single goal at the interval, but Lansdown came out strongly after the break and added three more in quick succession.

Hereford 4th had to survive continuous pressure from leaders Old Bristolians 4th before emerging with a 1-1 draw in North-East West District 4.

Bristolians took the lead in the first half, but the young Hereford side battled bravely and drew level from a rare attack when man-of-the-match Percy Steele sent in a cross which was converted by Phil Cottier.

Bristolians pushed forward in search of a winner but Hereford held on for their point.
