Smethwick Sikh Temple 1 Ledbury Town 4
LEDBURY included new signings Steve Oldcheck and Russell Wilton, both formerly at Cinderford Town, in their squad for their West Midlands League Premier Division clash at Smethwick.
After a closely-fought first quarter, the visitors took the lead in the 22nd minute when the prolific Robbie Colwell was brought down as he darted into the box, getting up and dusting himself down before firing home the resulting penalty.
Seven minutes later he drove through the home defence and down the flank before whipping over a dangerous cross shot which a Smethwick defender could only deflect into his own net.
New central defender Oldcheck formed a formidable back four with Chris Powell, Mark Green and Chris Jones as Ledbury took over to dominate after the interval, with substitute Wilton also joining the fray.
The visitors forced a corner and Nick Stockley rose above the home defence to power in an unstoppable header from Stuart Smith's right-wing delivery for Ledbury's third goal.
Midway through the half Colwell bagged his second goal and effectively sealed victory with a crisp 20-yard drive, with Ledbury relaxing to let their hosts claim a late consolation goal.
