Kington Town 4
Dudley Town 3
KINGTON made hard work of beating battling Dudley Town, coming from behind at the break to bag their 14th West Midlands League Premier Division win of the season to stay in touch with the league leaders Malvern.
Dudley opened the scoring when slack marking by Kington's rearguard gave the visiting striker a chance to race through and beat Carl Rose from close range.
Within minutes, Kington levelled when Dave Howes prodded home in a goalmouth melee and then took the lead with a goal inspired by Dave Goode whose fine cross was headed home by Danny Hill.
Another mistake at the back let in Dudley for an equaliser, and when Rose was forced to retire with a shoulder injury, stand-in goalkeeper Chris Aspey's first touch was to retrieve the ball from the back of his net after Danny Moon lost possession.
Kington clearly heeded manager Mick Panniers' half-time talk and dominated the second period.
They levelled with a first-time volley from Gareth Watkins after another excellent cross from Goode.
Then, after hitting the woodwork twice, Kington grabbed a deserved win when the outstanding Goode slammed home a superb last-minute drive.
