Hereford United 3 Burton Albion 1

LEADING scorer Andrew Williams fired in a hat-trick to earn Hereford United a comfortable win in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Premier Division.

Williams has now netted 20 goals this season, 10 in the league and 10 in cups, as Hereford have established themselves in mid-table.

Hereford dominated the early play but efforts by Williams and skipper Paul Brown were saved by the visitors' keeper, a recruit from the Manchester United academy.

The young Bulls eventually broke through when a Dean Jordan shot was parried to Williams who tapped in at the far post but some sloppy defensive play allowed Burton to level three minutes before the interval.

Williams shot wide when well-placed early in the second period but went on to put Hereford ahead with 20 minutes remaining after good work on the right by Chris Mortlock.

Anthony Robins then won a tackle with the ball breaking free for Williams to slot home his hat-trick goal five minutes from time.
