Pegasus Juniors 2 Hook Norton 1
PEGASUS maintained their recent improvement under new manager Chris Hyde with their latest success at Hereford Leisure Centre taking their tally of points to 13 from the last 21.
Hook Norton created the first opening when Jody McKay headed a Lewis Travers cross over from a good position before the Pegasus attack, which had been little seen in the early stages, finally threatened.
Darren Jones shot wide with goalkeeper Guy Smith out of position but the Pegasus striker soon made amends, however, racing on to a long ball from Neal Hotchkiss to slide the ball past the advancing Smith.
Pegasus should have doubled their lead just before the interval when a corner was half-cleared to Mike Symonds whose snap shot skimmed the bar with Smith beaten.
With the home defence in top form, Hook created few openings and when Steve O'Rourke did get through he was denied by a brilliant save from debut-making Adam Ding.
Pegasus extended their lead when Lawrence Helme and Jamie Edmonds set up a goal for another debutant, Chris Goode, and although Travers snatched a goal back at the death for the visitors, the city side held on for a valuable win.
l HEREFORD United youth team goalkeeper Adam Ding, 18, has signed for Pegasus Juniors as cover for Scott Hodgetts who was injured in the previous week's defeat by Didcot Town.
