A GLORIOUS, tranquil expanse of parkland is set to become reality for Hunderton residents thanks to a £66,000 grant from the Countryside Agency's Doorstep Greens Project.

Volunteers worked together to complete a project preparation plan, outlining the creation of the new park on Luard Walk and submitted it to the agency.

The initiative, which has total funding of £116,000, will include new play equipment, landscaping seating and a sculpture, as well as a safe play area and meeting place for the community.

"An aerial slide and other interactive play equipment have been planned for the park," said Richard Fishbourne, South Wye and Belmont community environmental project officer.

"Historically, there has been a demand by the community in Hunderton for a safe place where children could play and people of all ages could use as a meeting place," said Mr Fishbourne.

He said residents were very passionate about the project and through Community First they engaged an architect after 'massive community consultation'.

"These images were submitted to the Countryside Agency to accompany the architect's drawings ultimately to give a sense of what the park will look like," he added.
