Coseley Town 1 Ledbury Town 2

BOTH teams struggled in the near impossible conditions created by the gale-force winds which battered the region, but Ledbury netted twice after the interval to leave West Midlands League Premier Division bottom club Coseley still searching for their first win of the season.

Pinned in their own half for most of the opening period against the wind, Ledbury almost took the lead when a quick breakaway gave striker Gareth Davies a sight of goal, his excellent attempt rebounding to safety off the crossbar.

In the closing seconds of the half Coseley took the lead when a fortunate rebound presented a home striker with a close-range header.

Within minutes of the restart Ledbury were back on terms, Stuart Smith sending over a swinging corner for Steve Olchek to net with a powerful header.

More pressure and chances fell Ledbury's way but all went begging as Stuart Hall, Davies and Smith failed to convert when well placed.

However, blushes were saved when good foraging by Davies set up a chance for new signing Alex Volosonov to bag his first goal for the club - and three welcome points - with a good finish from 10 yards.
