May Fair Dance - There will be May Fair dances at Knighton Community Centre tomorrow (Friday) with DJ Storm.

The dance will start at 9.30pm and finish at 1am. The committee wishes to remind everyone that the doors are closed to new admissions at 11.30pm.

Admission is £4.

FARMERS MARKET - As an additional attraction for the May Fair Weekend there will be a Knighton Farmers and Community Market on Saturday from 10am to 1pm at Knighton Community Centre next to the Bowling Green Lane Car Park where the May Fair is located until Saturday Night. Knighton Country Market will be at the Farmers' Market but not at its regular location at Knighton Farm Supplies.

Macmillan Mile - The annual Macmillan Mile will be walked next Tuesday to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief. The local group is organising a walk which will start at the Knighton Hotel at 7pm. Sponsorship forms may be obtained from either Liz George (01547 520002) or Jean Kilby (01547 528295)

Wednesday Club - Knighton and District Wednesday Club met recently at the Social Room in Saint Edward's Close. Helpers were Mrs I. Leeson Mrs M. Cox, Mrs M. Chapman and Mrs W. Davies. Winners in the raffle were Mrs G. Moss, Miss V. Pugh, Mrs W. Plant, Mrs B. Kempson, Mrs H. Payne, Mrs B. Davies, Mrs V. Parker-Smith, Mr P. Cadwallader, Mrs I. Leeson and Mr D. Lewis. After their lunch members enjoyed a quiz which Mrs Marjorie Cox organised.

COFFEE MORNING - Knighton branch of the Royal British Legion Women's Section held their annual raffle and coffee morning. Winners in the annual raffle were Sam Jones, M. Roberts, Betty Charmer (2 prizes), Biddy Roberts, Iris Leeson, Taran Lewis, Peggy Lloyd, Mrs Price, Charmaine, Betty Durant, Betty Bolton, Sarah Branford and David Minton. Winners in the raffle held in the room were: Carole Oliver, Hilda Mossler, Mrs Stevens, Mrs I. Boast, Mrs Evans, Anne Jones and Mrs Price. Donations were received from Eve Williams, Parry and Nora Barrett. The total amount raised was £236.

KNIGHTON TOWN SILVER BAND - Knighton Town Silver Band's grand draw took place at the concert in Knighton Community Centre on April 24. Winners were: 1st prize (a 2 minute trolley dash at Harry Tuffins Knighton) Mrs Lynda Wood of Knucklas; 2nd prize (£30.00 cash) Mr John Owen of Knighton; 3rd prize (£15.00 cash) Mrs Sheala Richards of Knighton; 4th prize (bottle of whiskey) Oliver Preece of Presteigne; 5th prize (bottle of wine) Mr Lewis of Bleddfa.
