A Hereford artist whose work is so earthy she could eat the paint, literally, Carolyn Blake trained initially at Herefordshire College of Art and Design, and under the tutelage of Welsh painter, Roger Cecil.
That was some time ago, and this abstract painter has found her own way since an early exhibition at The Mayor's Parlour in 1991, including exhibiting at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition.
As well as working from her Park Street studio, the artist saw a lifetime's dream become a reality when she traded in her car for a campervan last year, and is now seeking inspiration further afield.
"I think I'm one of the luckiest people in the world to be doing what I'm doing and having a campervan and a poodle as well," she says.
You can see Carolyn's new work at Artspace, the annual art extravaganza at Barn Galleries, near Henley-on-Thames, which opened on Saturday and runs until June 6. For details see www.barngalleries.com or contact 01491 577786.
