Lye Town 4

Bromyard Town 3

ALTHOUGH Bromyard led three times in this very entertaining West Mid-lands League Premier Division mid-table clash, Lye came from behind to snatch victory with a late goal.

Defeat means Bromyard will finish the season in 11th position in the league table.

There was little to choose between the teams in the opening half-hour with most of the action confined to midfield.

Carl Fairhurst showed superb control to bring the ball down and turn his marker before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Lye responded quickly and got back on terms when their leading scorer Andy Burgess finished off a fine move with a crisp shot.

Promising young winger Sean Betts set up Bromyard's second goal immediately after the break with a swift run down the right flank and a pin-point cross which was volleyed home by Adie Crowther.

Burgess levelled with a near-post flick, but parity did not last long as Alex Kilgour drilled the ball home when the home goalkeeper failed to gather an Andy Crowther corner.

With 10 minutes to go, Lye again got back on terms with a fine finish, and then collected the winning points in the final minute after a slip by the normally reliable Rob Dew.
