WORRIES over player availability and costs have led to Leominster Town's decision to resign from the West Midlands League and return to county football.

"Financial pressures and an increasing difficulty in getting players to commit themselves to playing regularly have made it increasingly difficult to compete in the West Midlands League, especially with the distances players now have to travel," said Town chairman Mike Barrington.

"Players are increasingly having to work on shift patterns or on Saturdays and we foresee this becoming an increasing pattern for the lads that play for us.

"Hence we cannot be sure that we would be able to complete fixture commitments in the forthcoming season."

Leominster Town have now applied to take part in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League next season.
