FORMER Luctonians scrum-half Scott Bemand tasted cup success when Harlequins claimed Parker Pen Challenge Cup glory with a last-gasp converted try to give them a 27-26 victory over Montferrand at the Madejski Stadium in Reading.

With the French team leading 26-20 deep into injury-time, Bemand was twice involved as Quins secured the decisive try through substitute Simon Keogh, with fellow substitute Andy Dunne landing the conversion to clinch the cup and a place in next season's lucrative Heineken Cup.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Bemand will not be with Harlequins next season. His contract runs out this week and, despite showing good form in the last couple of games, he has not been offered terms by Quins' director of rugby Mark Evans.

l Luctonians prop-forward Ben McGowan is in the squad for the North Midlands who play Eastern Counties in the Tetley's County Shield final at Twickenham on Saturday, kick-off 11am.
