HEREFORDSHIRE County team proved too strong for the Worcestershire Colts and reversed last year's result with a 12-5 victory at Wormsley.
They established a winning platform with a resounding 5-1 lead in the morning foursomes, and followed this up with a 7-4 success in the afternoon singles.
Belmont pair Gregg Morgan and Richard Lloyd got Herefordshire off to a good start with a 3 and 1 win in the top match. This was backed up with wins for Andrew Lambert (Burghill Valley) and James Morgan (Ross), 3 and 1, Robin Eckley and Jason Griffiths (Hereford), 4 and 3, Ed Deasey (Kington) and Will Lloyd (Burghill Valley), 2 and 1, Jon Devereux (Hereford) and Ryan Cadwallader (Kington), 3 and 2.
James Finn and Lawrence Noott beat Paul Moses and John McQuillan 4 and 2 to record the visitors' only success.
Singles wins for Morgan, Lambert, Moses, Eckley, McQuillan, Cadwallader, and Devereux, and a half for Richard Lloyd pressed home the advantage to complete a comprehensive win.
l The Herefordshire Mixed Championships will be held at Leominster on Saturday, June 12. Entries can still be made with county secretary Terry Horobin (01432 820491) or Leominster GC (01568 610055).
