Goodrich skipper Andrew Brown continued his fine start to the season with a century as Goodrich saw off the challenge of visiting Glangrwyney in the Flint & Cook Marches League Division 1.

Brown, who compiled a typically hard-hit 125, received good support from Sam Griffiths (31), Phil Evans (27) and Dennis Malley (21) as Goodrich reached an impressive 262-9 in their 45 overs.

Glangrwyney skipper Phil Bowker and his son Joseph both finished with four wickets for the visitors.

Despite a battling 82 from Mike Lennox, Glangrwyney were always under pressure as teenager James Clements (5-67) and veteran Mike Evans (3-44) bowled well, ending up 59 runs short.

Talgarth, who lost to Goodrich the previous weekend, resumed winning ways with a five-wicket success over Leominster at Bridge Street Sports Centre.

The home side's total of 185-6 was built around a fine innings of 69 from all-rounder Russell Palmer who struck 11 fours before being stumped off Talgarth skipper Neil Morris (4-52) in the penultimate over.

A 56-ball half-century by opener J Lovegrove gave the visitors a fine start in reply against a depleted Leominster attack and all-rounder Glyn Harrhy then came in to guide the Welshmen home, stroking seven fours in his unbeaten 62.

Top-flight newcomers Wellington achieved their first Division 1 victory in dramatic style when last pair Tony Pennicooke and L Rogers steered their side home with three balls to spare at Burghill & Tillington.

Skipper Kingsley Morris, who included 11 fours in a chanceless unbeaten 98, and Zimbabwean opener Clive Chadhani (61) were the principal contributors to Burghill's 233-3, with Liam Eagling chipping in with 34.

Wellington lost early wickets to Chadhani (2-61) and Mark Preece (4-78) but Mike Darley's 63 kept Wellington in contention and set up the exciting finish.

All-rounder David Teague's explosive 85 not out in just 47 balls ensured that reigning champions Monmouth wasted no time in racing to a seven-wicket win at Wormelow.

Teague lashed 14 fours and two sixes in his spectacular innings, receiving good support from Dan Head (34) and Dave Croudace (29) as Monmouth reached their 173-run target in the 33rd over.

Earlier, to show his versatility, Teague had chipped in with two wickets as the home side were restricted to 173-9 from their 45 overs.

Shaun Waldron, who hit seven fours and a six in his 53, and teenager Tim Boulter (43) led the way for the villagers.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Kushan was Llandrindod Wells' star performer as the Welsh side secured a comprehensive eight-wicket success at Canon Frome.

Opener Rob Mence (32) and A Duddell (26) ensured that the villagers were away to a sound start but the lower-order struggled against Kushan who bowled four of his victims and trapped the other leg before to finish with 5-15.

Kushan (43) then opened the batting with skipper Robin Edwards (41 not out) and the pair set Llandrindod on the road to victory, despite a couple of wickets from Calvin Cottrell (2-22).
